The Post Adoption Registry may facilitate a letter/picture exchange between an adoptive family and birth family.

Prior to the Adoption Order being granted by the Court the caseworker should ensure that both parties have agreed to this exchange. It is suggested the exchange occur during the month of the child's birth.

This exchange cannot be facilitated unless we have consent in writing from both parties. The Post Adoption Registry will screen to ensure the letters and pictures do not inadvertently contain any identifying information. If the materials are not picked up for three consecutive years, the Post Adoption Registry will contact the sender to ask that no more material be sent. The parties involved should ensure they update their record should they move.
