Child Care Licensing Regulation and Family Day Home Standard Amendments
On September 1, 2011, amendments to the Child Care Licensing Regulation and Family Day Home Standards Manual for Alberta came into effect that are helping to prevent the spread of illness between children in licensed and approved child care settings. These amendments clarify the definition of a sick child and the responsibility child care programs have in ensuring that a parent of an ill child arranges for the child’s immediate removal from the program.

Two new resources are now available to help clarify the amendments:
- REVISED EDITION - “Healthy Child Care, Healthy Child: A Guide to Promoting Health and Preventing Illness in Early Learning and Child Care Settings”
- “Information for Parents using Regulated Child Care”
The Family Day Home Standards Manual has also been revised to incorporate the new amendment. For the new version of the Manual please click here.
