Youth Emergency Shelter Review

Youth emergency shelters play an important role in our communities, especially for youth who have no place else to turn. In order to ensure these shelters are able to continue to respond to the needs of youth in crisis, Children and Youth Services conducted a review of youth emergency shelters in Alberta.

Information was gathered on a number of factors, including use, funding and services offered. We spoke with youth emergency shelter operators and staff as well as youth who access these shelters.

In response to feedback, Children and Youth Services developed recommendations to ensure Children and Youth Services and youth emergency shelters work together more effectively in order to continue to help youth in crisis.
