Professor Bala will review recent research that he and colleagues have carried out on child witnesses and Canada's criminal justice system, including studies of judicial attitudes towards child witnesses; use of screens, closed circuit television and videotapes, and the competence inquiry for child witnesses. There will also be a discussion of recent reforms to Canada's criminal justice system related to child witnesses, with a particular focus on Bill C-2 (2005 reforms).
