Panel discussions with Derwin Joseph (Mental Health Support Worker, Elsipogtog NB), and Marni Hope (Respect ED Coordinator, Blood Reserve). The Walking the Prevention Circle model started as an educational program and has grown to a comprehensive program that ensures a framework around prevention education and builds capacity within the communities to deliver primary prevention programs.

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre offers a wide range of successful programs. This session will focus on the reasons why the Couples’ and Mens’ Gathering program is so successful.

Discussion about a report on the Sisters in Spirit Campaign. The results are based a qualitative and quantitative study of the increasing numbers of murdered and missing Indigenous women in Canada.

Working with Children Exposed to Violence

This session will describe the Manitoba program, which serves children and parents affected by family violence. Wahbung Abinoonjiiag is Ojibawa for Children of Tomorrow.

Youth Panel: Secondary Impacts of Family Violence

Marcel Pelletier, Sik-ooh-kotoki Friendship Society will moderate this panel, which will explore family violence, as it relates to issues affecting young people, including addictions, child welfare, parental addictions, parental apathy, bullying and gangs.
