The Alberta Child Care Professional Awards of Excellence honour professionals who demonstrate excellence in their day-to-day work with Alberta’s children and families. Each year, parents, child care owners/operators, child care professionals and other interested Albertans are encouraged to nominate an outstanding child care professional in their community. Nominees must create a quality care environment and demonstrate excellence in their innovation and creativity working with children.

 

Eligible nominees work with pre-school and school-age children in licensed day care, pre-school, out-of-school care or approved family day homes in Alberta's rural or urban communities. Two categories are also included to recognize individuals who demonstrate innovative cultural practices and who work with children with special needs. 

 

The names of the nine successful recipients in 2009 were announced on May 22, 2009.
