Criteria
Criteria for Youth Strategies Branch Grants:
- Organizations applying for a grant must be in existence for at least one year and can show a track record of providing quality service to their community.
- The grant is for a project-based initiative or start-up program, not for a program that already exists.
- The project must fit within one of the three specified categories and must meet the criteria for that category.
- The project is community-based and addresses a demonstrated need that is relevant to the Ministry Business Plan.
- The objectives and strategies outlined in the Schedule A (Grant Project Plan) are attainable, clearly stated and measurable.
- The evaluation strategy is clearly stated and relevant.
- The Schedule B (Financial Report) is complete and accurate, reflecting one year of funding.
- Project activities and deliverables/targets can be completed within the designated time frame and within budget.
- Project is not the mandate of another government ministry.
Grant funding must only be used for the purposes approved by the Minister, based on your Schedule B. Grant funds not used for the purposes for which they were provided within the approved time frame must be returned to the Minister.
Grant recipients will be required to submit final reports summarizing the project and may be required to provide an audited financial statement upon completion of the grant. The Minister may, at any time, request that an evaluation or audit of the project be conducted.
Grant recipients must ensure that all personnel involved with the program or project are suitably qualified to provide the services.
Regarding any communication to the public about the program or project, the grant recipient must acknowledge the contribution by Alberta Children and Youth Services. Consult the Ministry Communications Branch (780)-427-4801 prior to any communication activities.
Funding for a project will be considered to a maximum of three consecutive years (applicants must reapply each year). Deadline is February 1.
Due to limited funds and the anticipated large volume of applications, not all requests meeting the established criteria will be funded and not all recipients will receive the full amount requested.
