Persons Case Scholarship
As a result of the new government structure announced on March 12, 2008, this program is now the responsibility of Alberta Children and Youth Services.
The Alberta Persons Case Scholarship was established in 1979 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the "Persons Case." These scholarships honour the efforts of five Alberta women - Emily Murphy, Louise McKinney, Nellie McClung, Irene Parlby and Henrietta Muir Edwards - who fought and won the right for the women of Canada to be officially deemed "persons" under the law.
- See Persons Case for more information on the Famous Five and their struggle to have women recognized as persons.
